CraneBOX control system

The Swisslog-Accalon Vectura cranes are preferably controlled by our in-house developed Server and PLC based Crane control system called CraneBOX. The CraneBOX typically communicates with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) using a standardised communication protocol based on TCP/IP.
The split of functionality between the stationary Server-side software and the on-board PLC controller reduces the requirements on the on-board hardware to a small PLC responsible for handling basic hardware control functions. The Server to PLC communication is also TCP/IP based through radio or infrared link.
The highly developed software tools used for system configuration and commissioning allows the entire subsystem to be up-and-running more quickly on site, saving installation time. The ability to commission and test the entire subsystem independently of the WMS is a key feature, again reducing time on site.
The CraneBOX concept allows remote diagnosis and intervention via modem, saving engineer travelling and time costs in those rare situations when expert support assistance is needed.
The CraneBOX system also features a user-friendly, graphical user interface called BOX Control Interface (BCI). This enables easy error handling and the ability to check the status of all aspects of the cranes.
